sunday

...not feeling like writing tonight, so I am encouraging myself to put some words down before heading to bed and recount the day. Hope by doing this, my feelings of sadness would drift away just for few minutes... This morning I was determined to take my parents to the beach as we'd talking about doing this for a while. Mum was not feeling very well; in fact, after coming back I could see her touching her belly with pain in her face. I knew that the increasing pain is there so we decided to increase the dosage of Oxycontin.

at the beach she told me [again] of the days when she and her brother Fernando was to come to this little beach by climbing the mountain as they had no money to pay for the boat which used to bring people from Cartagena for bathing here...

she loves this beach

and i like it too

surprisingly, i have no emotional attachment to this place...well, maybe i am wrong as i started to like it after coming here with Patrick in 1997. He'd briefly visited Cartagena long time before but never had seen this coast until then.

dreaming blue

tonight I found myself thinking of my time here; what my purpose of coming to Cartagena is; and how much I can give... I am here only a week and it feels like I never went away...

Moritori

...since as long as I can remember, this is an image that has prompted me to dream of escaping to other places, other countries and to meet othe people; since early age of seven years old I knew that my life would take me somewhere else as I felt I did not belong to this place... what a weird feeling for such a child. What is ven stranger is that I recall that feeling so vividly...

s.i.b.l.i.n.g.s around

Ok, I think it isn't fair to post this picture without asking mum and Salvador for authorization. I feel bad about it, you know. Mum's just seen the picture and she laughed at it! They were watching TV last night and due to medication mum's eyes close without she noticing it. My brother also decided to have a nap so when I walked into the room there they were...

Tonight, during our dinner, she told us the story that when at the hairdressing, Pili told her that somebody has seen her at the fish shop counter in Mercadona, standing with her eyes closed! Pili said: "Puri, you were standing in front of the counter, sleeping?!"

Mum laughed at the idea of somebody who has seen her and that she didn't see herself -well, she was sleeping, wasn't she?- went later to the same hairdresser and told the funny story...

kicking off!

Here we go! This is the very first image and text I am writing to start up a new adventure...Calobridge!
I have been sitting in front of this computer since 9:30 am and have talked to friends to live in San Francisco, Cartagena, London, Barcelona...as well as my siblings who every now and then come to bring me back to this room...

I want this blog to be a record of an experience which started just over a year ago when I decided to come back to Cartagena, my home town, and leave my residence in London. Since then, my life has been fluctuating from places, people, weather...but then who has not?

Finally, I am looking forward to meet you here and post anything, in Spanish, Farsi, Japanese, Suomi... to just enjoy being alive!

Besos,

Juan
